Herbal Banana Cucumber Facial Mask Recipe
1 T Kelp granules
1 small handful each of Calendula, Chamomile & Helichrysum
1 1/2 cups water
1 ripe Banana
1/2 Cucumber (peeled)
1 T Kaolin clay
1/2 fresh large Tomato
In a small sauce pan, simmer the Kelp granules, Calendula, Chamomile and Helichrysum in the water without boiling for about 10-15 minutes. Let sit for a half hour or until cool.
Mash the Banana until smooth in a small bowl. Grate the Cucumber into a cheesecloth square and squeeze the juice into the bowl with the Banana. Add the clay by sprinkling it over the mixture, mixing at the same time. Stop when the mixture has a pudding-like consistency. Wrap the Tomato half in another cheesecloth square (with the open side of the Tomato down) and squeeze the juice into the mixture.
Now take the herbal infusion and strain it into a measuring cup. Slowly pour a small amount of the strained liquid into the bowl with the other ingredients, stirring at the same time. When the consistency looks good you are finished. If you happen to add too much liquid you can add more clay by sprinking it in while stirring.
To Use -
Apply to the face and neck area with either your hands or a brush. Leave on about 15 minutes and remove with a warm moist wash cloth. Remove any excess with a hydrosol on a cotton pad. Moisturize as usual.
This mask treatment is especially good for an oily or acneic skin type. The Banana is nourishing, the Cucumber, Tomato and clay is toning, great for pore minimizing. The ingredients in the infusion are soothing, healing, and softening. This mask will also work for other skin types and is very gentle.
