I first heard about Vital Collagen Serum, from I2 by Ivana K in the ANB Forum.  When Ivana offered to send me a bottle I was thrilled.  After using it I can see what inspired the raves.  Ivana is a natural cosmetic chemist with a passion for creating truly effective organic products.  This one is no exception.  It's been created for a skin that needs help from the inside out, at the cellular level.       I use it on a clean skin and after awhile my skin feels just feels better, healthier if you will. I can't put my finger on why, but it just feels like it's in better condition. I also feel that if I used this continuously, my skin could reach remarkable improvement. I guess you could say that it is refining my skin and its appearance.      I've used it alone and I've used it under a moisturizer, and each way feels very nice.  So my advice would be to play it by ear and use it which ever way serves the purpose of where your skin is at. Here's what Ivana of I2 by Ivana K has to say ~ Vital Collagen Serum I have been toying with the idea of an anti-aging serum with some very potent actives for a long time, and it was a matter of choosing the right ones. I have never previously used ingredients of animal source, certainly not animal proteins, but recently one of my suppliers has offered me a sample of marine origin collagen. Collagen is one of the most popular, if not the most popular anti-aging ingredient and it has been so for a long time. While many novel ingredients – although extracted from plants – come with serious scientific backing of their action on cellular level in the dermis, prevention of enzymatic degradation and so forth, collagen does not penetrate the skin barrier, since as a protein it is a very large molecule. Even the hydrolyzed collagen is too large. Thus, it is believed that all the benefits – not insignificant by any means – come from helping skin retain moisture. It is unlikely that this would justify such popularity of collagen. Nobody knows for sure why should this ingredient be so trusted as an anti-aging ingredients for this long, unless it manages to trigger overall positive reactions within the skin. And it seems to do exactly that. The complex dynamics within the dermis and epidermis are far from understood, and the interconnectedness of numerous factors is always present. Collagen is commonly of bovine origin. Marine collagen in Collagen Vital Serum comes from oceanic fish – cod. Beta-glucans are polysaccharides that occur in the bran of cereal grains. They have various biological actions, but the patented form for cosmetic use that I am working with has shown very positive, stimulating effect on fibroblasts – cells that synthesize extra-cellular matrix and collagen in the dermis. It is also highly effective at increasing the moisture in the skin. Pumpkin seed extract is a protein fraction from the seed and has shown efficacy in stimulating the fibroblasts and inhibiting the action of enzymes that break down collagen in the dermis. A combination of extracts from Andean tree and a certain type of algae has resulted in a complex of poly- and pentasaccharides with strong positive effect on moisturization of the epidermis and metabolic mediation within the dermis. Lactic acid, as an alpha-hydroxy acid, at low concentration has a very good effect on skin’s hydration. Each of these ingredients is exciting on its own; combined they create a unique Serum with multitude of benefits. What to expect from Collagen Vital Serum? The data coming with each of these ingredients indicates measurable improvements in depth of wrinkles, hydration and firmness of the skin. The Collagen Vital Serum is a light gel made with algae extract, and suitable for all skin types.
